Itinerary
The South Valley tour begins at 8:00 a.m. We will drive approximately 40 minutes to the southwest of Cusco. Our first stop will be Tipón, also known as the Temple of Water. This impressive archaeological site features one of the most sophisticated irrigation and agricultural systems from the Inca period.
After our visit, we continue to Pikillacta—considered one of the best-known and best-preserved pre-Inca cities in Peru. Covering roughly 50 hectares, Pikillacta displays an important urban, administrative, and religious center of the Wari culture. Thanks to its size and layout, it is one of the most notable pre-Hispanic cities in the region.
We then continue to Andahuaylillas, home to the San Pedro Church—often referred to by historians and travelers as the “Sistine Chapel of America.” Built in the 17th century, this church features an altar covered in 24-karat gold leaf, beautiful murals, paintings from the Cusco School, and an exquisite polychrome ceiling.
After the final visit, we return to Cusco, arriving around 2:00 p.m.
