Itinerario
DAY 1.- PICK UP FROM THE AIRPORT AND CITY TOUR
A staff from our team will be there 20 minutes before your arrival in the city of Cusco. They will continuously take the transport that will take them to the corresponding hotel, in turn the HUASCAR EXPEDITIONS staff will give an informative talk about their first corresponding tour in their program for perfect acclimatization.
The city tour starts at 9:00 am in the main square where you will visit the temple of the sun or Qoricancha, which was the religious center of Cusco during the time of the Inca Empire. We will see some of the original temples that have survived, despite being integrated with the colonial architecture during Spanish rule. We will also visit the impressive Sacsayhuaman fortress that is strategically built on a hill from where you can see all of Cusco. It is famous for its huge carved stones, some of which are 9 meters or 30 feet high and weigh more than 350 tons. Qenqo, Located four kilometers northeast of the city of Cusco, has the archaeological groups of Qenqo Grande and Qenqo Chico.
Etymologically, it means labyrinth or zigzag, it fulfilled a purely religious function, finding on the outside a semicircular amphitheater with trapezoidal niches and a monolith that simulates being a puma which measures approximately six meters. Puka Pukara means “red fortress”, because the calcareous stones with which it is built have acquired the reddish coloration of the terrain, which is very abundant in iron. It is argued that it had the function of protecting Tambomachay, an important palace. Tambomachay It is located about 8 kms. To the north of Cusco and very close to the ruins of Puka Pukara, it is an archaeological site that was destined for the worship of water and so that the head of the Inca Empire could rest. This place is also called Baños del Inca. It consists of a series of aqueducts, channels and several waterfalls that run through the rocks. The surprising thing about this is that, from a main waterfall, the Incas created 2 secondary waterfalls, which are exactly the same. At the end of the tour we will leave you one block from the main square at approximately 2:30 p.m.
